A webmaster can’t do much without electricity but blogging in the dark using the laptop battery can help pass the time away.

Today, we had one of those Florida storms. It really rained hard for a couple of hours, the wind blew so hard that it took trees down in several areas of town and on the street where I live there was no electricity for the remainder of the day and into the night.
At 9:15 p.m. I heard the trucks grunting up and down our graveled road. Voices could be heard in the dark as the wind continued to sway the trees. I walked out on the back deck to see if I could hear or see anything of interest but really the cool breeze of the wind was all I could feel except for an occasional muffled sound of men talking.
At 10:00 p.m.- still no electricity.’Guess I’ll miss The Andy Griffith Show tonight. “Awe!”.

Having this experience just reminded me of the importance of continuing to focus. I haven’t had a shower. I feel pretty sticky and icky and I don’t have the normal capacity of my computer, including no internet but I tried to still focus on the main thing…. Providing information for my website.

One of the most important things about having a website is delivering to the readers who visit each day some kind of information. They are taking their time to drop by. The best thing the webmaster can do it at least put up some information.

One thing about web design is that there is a lot of FREE stuff out there that can make people tons of money. If a web designer would simply give credit where credit is due, one could rake in the dough! Here are a few tips to help you use FREE stuff to make money:

1. Find a FREE HTML editor available and use it!
2. Use some web wizard or web building tool that is FREE to help you build a website.
3. Find someone who will give you some FREE articles for the websites that you have.
4. Take time to view websites that you like. This is a FREE activity that can teach you something in the web business.
5. Take advantage of the FREE tutorials and learn how to do your own thing in terms of web design.

Whatever you do, use as much FREE stuff as you can to save money! But, in the end, be sure that every time you use something free you do two important things: 1. Give credit for that free item. 2. Learn something new.

There are generations between the age of the Queen of England and the United States President. One thing for sure, the age difference was brought to light today when the young Barack Obama gave the mature Queen of England an iPod. According to Jake Tapper of ABC, the iPod included a variety of different things including Obama’s speeches and her photos.

Rumor has it that the Obama’s are MAC people and quite hip on the latest in technology. Obama more than likely had his Blackberry on his hip when he or his team members handed over to the Queen or her team members the Apple iPod.

We can all learn something from this event. Young and old can meet together. The young can share with the older. The older can share with the younger. The youth of one can offer something of possible interest to an older person. The older person can be of influence to the younger.

This can be used in business as well. Live outside the box just be careful and don’t overstep. There is a thin line. You decide.

flowerYesterday I went to the Seattle Market. It was hustling and bustling. One thing that I noticed was that each market “stand” had its own “thing”. For example, the fish stand had guys dressed in fishermen’s wet pants and throwing fish one to another. ( I wasn’t sure that I wanted to buy those particular fish but…..) YES, throwing fish. It was their little “show” used to drum up interest, get a crowd interested and grow their business.

Another market stand (Mick’s Jelly) had Jellies. The “show” there was open jars of jelly with wooden sticks for tasting. I tasted three and ended up with “Mick’s Pepper Jelly”. It cost me $7 bucks.

The flower stand was offering one free flower; could be a tulip ( just in season) or a daffodil or some other west coast beauty. I did not take one but had this been my home, probably would have ended up with a bunch to take home to put on the table. Lovely.

The bottom line for all of those who want to have a business online or other is to give the crowd “something” to draw them to your biz….

What will you offer your clients today?
